87-year-old Newcastle resident to perform at Aegis in Redmond Thursday

Italene Gaddis, a Newcastle resident, will be giving a concert at Aegis of Redmond at 3 p.m. on Thursday at Aegis of Redmond, 7480 W. Lake Sammamish Pkwy N.E.

The 87-year-old will be playing the autoharp and singing songs she had written herself. Gaddis, who has written songs since she was 14 but never did anything with them until she the age of 62, said she doesn’t believe in slowing down as you get older. If anything, she said, you should speed up with age.

Gaddis said her songs usually take about 10 minutes to write and after many years of people asking for the lyrics to her songs, she has published a book entitled “From My Heart To Yours.” The book features song lyrics as well as original poems by Gaddis and is available at amazon.com.
