Famous flautist Tracy Harris to perform benefit concert at Redmond Junior High

Yamaha Performing Artist Tracy Harris will perform a benefit concert for the National Alliance on Mental Illness Eastside and HERO House, at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 at Redmond Junior High School, 10055 166th Ave. NE.

Yamaha Performing Artist Tracy Harris will perform a benefit concert for the National Alliance on Mental Illness Eastside and HERO House, at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 at Redmond Junior High School, 10055 166th Ave. NE.

Harris is a flutist, motivational speaker and author of “The Music of Madness,” which chronicles her performing career and her battle with schizoaffective disorder.

Harris had held principal chairs with such orchestras as The Santa Barbara Symphony, Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra, the Coastal Valley’s Symphony and the West Coast Symphony and has performed with other symphonies such as the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Los Angeles Chamber Symphony. HERO House is a psychiatric rehabilitation program in east King County, established in 2005. HERO House’s mission is to provide a program where people with serious mental illnesses can go to rebuild their lives and rejoin their communities. For information, visit www.herohouse.org.

NAMI Eastside, based in Redmond, sponsors free support groups and educational programs and advocates for improvements to our mental health delivery system in terms of access to care, standards of care, recovery, housing and rehabilitation.

In addition to the music of Tracy Harris, the gala will include a reception with Canto Mio Harp Ensemble and a dinner catered by Sodexho.
