King County’s popular Movies@Marymoor returns: Lineup features classics, new favorites

From comedy to classic sci-fi, and musical to western, the Movies@Marymoor 2011 summer line-up features a diverse selection of movies that is sure to attract film buffs and families to King County’s Marymoor Park.

From comedy to classic sci-fi, and musical to western, the Movies@Marymoor 2011 summer line-up features a diverse selection of movies that is sure to attract film buffs and families to King County’s Marymoor Park.

Now in its seventh season of Wednesday night summer movies, the weekly series is presented by Frontier Communications and Overlake Hospital Medical Center and kicks off July 13 with a true Hollywood classic, “The Wizard of Oz.”

The series continues July 20 with the 2004 comedy “Dodgeball,” starring Vince Vaughn, Christine Taylor and Ben Stiller.

On July 27, the family favorite “Ghostbusters” is featured, and on Aug. 3 everyone is invited to sing-along with “Mamma Mia.”

Next up is “Toy Story 3” on Aug. 10, followed by the 2010 version of “True Grit” on Aug. 17, “E.T. The Extra Terrestrial” on Aug. 24 and the finale on Aug. 31 featuring the 2009 animated hit, “Up.”

Movies are shown on a 40-foot inflatable movie screen at MacNair Field, located in the center of Marymoor Park. Pre-movie seating for all events is $5 general admission starting at 7 p.m., followed by trivia contests, games, prizes and feature film at dusk.

This is a bring-your-own-seating event, lawn chairs and blankets are recommended. Popcorn and other food are available for purchase, and outdoor food is permitted.
