On Sept. 25, Redmond residents Bhavana Kudikala and Supriya Unnikrishnan will be featured in “Kshetram,” a dance production put on by Lakshmi Sanjay and Sanjay Subramaniam, cofounders and artistic directors of Abhinay Fine Arts (AFA).
AFA is an Eastside nonprofit that strives to bring classical Indian dance and music performances to the greater Puget Sound audience.
This production is jointly presented by the Vedic Education and Development Academy (VEDA) in Redmond.
“Kshetram,” or temple, is a thematic portrayal of the heritage of legendary temple cities of India, weaving together ancient poetry, classical music and dance. Kudikala and Unnikrishnan are joined by fellow Eastside residents and dancers: Sanjay, Preetha Anandh and Smitha Krishnan. The production incorporates three distinct Indian classical dance forms of Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and Mohiniattam. Additionally, the production showcases the dancers’ individual styles while narrating the stories of each temple.
