Redmond man featured in Lyric Opera Northwest production, ‘Oliver!’

A resident of Bellevue for nearly 45 years, Cooney and his wife recently bought a home in Trilogy on Redmond Ridge.

Cooney has sung at some 600 worship, memorial, concert and theatrical events in the United States, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand.

Based on Charles Dickens’ novel “Oliver Twist,” with music and lyrics by British pop composer Lionel Bart, “Oliver!” was a hit at its debut in 1960 and was the first British musical to transfer successfully to Broadway. In 1968, “Oliver!” was made into a film which won several Academy Awards including Best Film.
