School district announces principal changes

The Lake Washington School District (LWSD) announces several elementary principal changes for the 2008-09 school year, including the addition of two new principals.

The Lake Washington School District (LWSD) announces several elementary principal changes for the 2008-09 school year, including the addition of two new principals.

Mary Cronin, former principal at Franklin Elementary in Kirkland, will move to the new elementary school on the Sammamish Plateau, now known as Rachel Carson Elementary.

Kim Fricke will be the new principal at Franklin Elementary. Fricke joins LWSD from Clovis, Calif. where she has served as a building administrator since 2005. Fricke has served in the roles of learning director and instructional specialist at both the elementary and the high school level, as well as a literacy coach and teacher support provider. Prior to administrative roles, Fricke taught at the elementary level in both California and Washington. She taught in Bellevue and completed her student teaching in Lake Washington.

Larry Pollock has retired as the principal at Wilder Elementary in Woodinville. Steve Roetcisoender, who was principal at Thoreau Elementary in Kirkland, will move to Wilder Elementary.

Mindy Mallon will be the new principal at Thoreau Elementary. Mallon has served as one of LWSD’s consulting teachers since 2003. Previously, Mallon served as a Title 1 teacher at Redmond Elementary and as a special education teacher at Finn Hill Junior High in Kirkland, as well as serving as a teacher and a building administrator in California.
