SecondStory Repertory’s (SSR) 14th season will begin Aug. 17 and run though June 2, 2013.

On the main stage, the first show will be “Cabaret” from Aug. 17 through Sept. 2. Written by Joe Masteroff with music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, “Cabaret” tells the story of a Berlin night club at the end of the 1920s.

“Zombie Prom” will follow from Oct. 12-28. With music by Dana P. Rowe, book and lyrics by John Dempsey and based on a story by Dempsey and Hugh Murphy, the story is set in the atomic 1950s at Enrico Fermi High where pretty senior Toffee has fallen for the class bad boy. Family pressure forces her to end things and he charges off on his motorcycle to the nuclear waste dump. He returns glowing and determined to reclaim Toffee’s heart and take her to the prom.

In time for the holidays will be “A Christmas Carol” from Dec. 7-23. This production is an original SSR adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic and was created to tell this tale in a fashion that will appeal to all ages.

“How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” will show from Feb. 8, 2013 to March 3, 2013. By Abe Burrows and James Weinstock and music and lyrics by Frank Loesser, “How to Succeed” is a satire of big business, following the rise of J. Pierrepont Finch who climbs the corporate ladder from lowly window washer to high-powered executive.

From April 12, 2013 to May 5, 2013, SSR will show “Rent” by Jonathan Larson. The musical is loosely based on Puccini’s “La Boheme,” and follows a year in the life of a group of friends struggling to make it in the big city.

The final main stage show of the season will be “Moon Over Buffalo” by Ken Ludwig from June 14-30, 2013. This is the story of Charlotte and George Hay, an acting couple on tour in Buffalo in 1953.

On the Theater 4 Young Audiences, “Duck for President” will be onstage from Sept. 14-30, “The Frog Prince” will be shown from Nov. 9-25 and “A Christmas Carol Jr.” will be shown Dec. 8, 15 and 22. The new year will begin with “Puss in Boots” from Jan. 11-27, 2013, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves” from March 15-30, 2013 and “Pinkalicious the Musical” from May 17, 2013 to June 2, 2013.
