String Jam ’10 ready to set new world record on Saturday

More than 400 musicians, ages 5 to 65, will participate in “String Jam ’10” at the Juanita High School Field House, 10601 NE 132nd St. in Kirkland, this Saturday, April 10. Doors open at 5 p.m.

Organized by the Redmond Region Orchestra Boosters, the event will include an attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the most string players (violin, viola, cello or string bass) assembled under one roof. Spectator tickets, at the door, are $10 for adults or $5 for students or seniors, cash or check only. Proceeds will benefit orchestra programs in the Lake Washington School District.

As well as the record attempt, “String Jam ’10” will feature performances by six-string electric violinist Geoffrey Castle, The Bottom Line Duo and several advanced student ensembles.
