Carolyn and Tony Scott have announced the opening of their first restaurant, Woodblock. The official grand opening will take place at 4 p.m. on March 18 with a ribbon cutting by Redmond Mayor John Marchione. Woodblock is located at 16175 Cleveland St.
Longtime Redmond residents, the Scotts felt inspired to create a restaurant that would be comfortable any night of the week. An inviting place perfect for a date, dinner with the kids, hopping off your bike for a bite at the bar, or socializing with a group of friends.
“Carolyn and I met 20 years ago working at The Painted Table in Seattle,” says Tony Scott. “Opening our own restaurant has always been a long-held dream of ours — and the timing was finally right.”
“We are so excited about Woodblock,” says Carolyn Scott. “We can’t wait to open the doors and share what we’ve created with the growing Redmond community.”
The menu will focus on local and seasonal fare, including herb roasted olives, blistered Shishito peppers and Scotch eggs; grilled Caesar salad and fried calamari over chickpea puree with golden raisins and cilantro; crispy roasted duck leg, braised oxtail-butternut squash risotto and more.
For the bar, Tony and the bar manager have curated a wide selection of American whiskeys and other spirits, with a special focus on local distilleries like Oola, Sun Liquor and Woodinville Whiskey.
Inside the 2,300-square-foot space, there are 76 seats, including 12 at the bar.
A custom woodcut art piece by Charles Spitzack hangs in the far side of the dining room—the final piece is displayed along with the initial one-color prints, as well as the actual woodblocks.
The restaurant is named for the printing technique where layers of color come together to create the final image — at Woodblock, layers of flavor come together to create bright, bold dishes paired with warm hospitality.
