The second annual “Thrill the World: Zombie Dance and Block Party” is set to lurch its way into Redmond Town Center on Saturday, Oct. 23.

The event will be a fundraiser for children’s educational programs at SecondStory Repertory.

Starting Saturday, Sept. 11, Teresa Osborn, an international dance instructor for City of Redmond Parks and Recreation, will lead free workshops demonstrating how to do Michael Jackson’s famous “Thriller” dance.

The workshops will be held at the Redmond Senior Center, 8703 160th Ave. NE, from 10 a.m.-noon, each Saturday through Oct. 16.

Dance lessons will not be provided on the day of the “Thrill of the World” event so interested participants are encouraged to attend the free workshops. Visit www.RedmondZombies.com for details and to sign up.

Last year, around the world, 22,596 dancers participated in this simultaneous “Thriller” dance phenomenon. At Redmond Town Center, more than 300 people performed the “Thriller” dance in the Center Street Plaza, with more than 2,000 spectators cheering them on.

Costumed actors from SecondStory Repertory also got on in the fun and will do so again this year. Contests and activities for zombies of all ages will be included and volunteers are needed to help on the day of the event.
