“I wish I’d found you years ago!”

Giving chronic migraine sufferers hope at Bothell clinic

Throbbing pain. Blinding lights and overwhelming noise. Nausea. The symptoms of migraine headaches are a serious buzz-kill. And if your migraines are chronic, those symptoms can have wide-reaching impacts on your life.

It’s not just about feeling miserable; chronic migraines can disrupt your work, stop you from exercising, and hold you back from doing the things you love.

But there’s hope.

At Starting Point Acupuncture and Wellness, Dr. Ellie Heintze, ND, LAc uses a comprehensive approach to find the root causes of your migraines and offer lasting solutions.

“A lot of my patients say ‘I wish I’d found you years ago,’” Heintze says.

“The majority of people I see have chronic migraines that aren’t responding to standard treatments —either their pain medications aren’t working, or they aren’t working fast enough.”

As a naturopathic doctor Heintze believes in treating the whole person, not just the symptoms. At your first consultation she’ll establish a thorough health history and learn how migraines present to you.

“Everyone is different in how they experience migraines, and we create a customized program for each individual to address their specific concerns,” Heintze says, “With migraines there’s often more than one trigger. If the patient doesn’t already have an idea of their triggers, it takes investigative work to find out what they might be.”

That means addressing possible contributors that are sometimes overlooked. Lab testing and investigative work on your first visit could include blood work, allergy testing, dietary sensitivities, an in-depth look at environmental triggers, and mental stress.

“We’re really treating the whole person to set the stage for lifestyle changes and long-term health. It’s not just a quick fix,” Heintze says.

Once the first consultation is complete, she’ll look back with the patient to see if they’re missing anything. Are there other environmental triggers? Workplace stressors that could be contributing? Subtle signs in your past medical history? Heintze looks at the whole picture.

Many of Heintze’s patients respond well to acupuncture, and for the first time in years will have a month go by without a migraine. That’s life-changing relief!

“What we do best is helping people find relief from symptoms so they can get back to doing the activities they love doing, pain-free! We are often the last resort for people with the best results.”
