2016 rowing Olympian to speak at Sammamish Rowing Association boathouse grand opening Sunday

The Sammamish Rowing Association (SRA) will hold a grand opening for its new boathouse on Sunday.

Doors open at 1 p.m. and the ceremony begins at 2 p.m.

SRA is located at 5022 W. Lake Sammamish Pkwy and visitors should park in Marymoor Park Lot B and walk or take an SRA-provided shuttle to the boathouse, which is one mile south of the park.

Speakers at the event include 2016 U.S. Olympic Men’s Team rower Hans Struzyna, state representative Roger Goodman and King County parks director Kevin Brown

Other guests include SRA members and friends, state representative Joan McBride, King County Council member Kathy Lambert, Redmond Mayor John Marchione and Redmond City Council member Hank Meyers.

After a 15-year process of design, permitting, fund-raising and construction, SRA has completed a new boathouse for the community. The only rowing organization on the Eastside, SRA provides rowing opportunities for nearly 1,000 people each year, fielding competitive, recreational and adaptive teams and offering rowing classes for those brand new to the sport.
