On Saturday — National Make A Difference Day — Assistance League of the Eastside will present almost 1,000 children’s books for families living in transitional housing run by Redmond-based Friends of Youth (FOY) on the Eastside.

The books have been donated by friends and family of members of the Assistance League as well as students at Redmond High School (RHS) throughout October.

Since 1989, Assistance League of the Eastside has contributed more than $3.3 million to the Eastside community through its four programs: Operation School Bell, Starting Over Support, Assault Survivor Kits and Assistance League Outreach.

The Eastside branch was just one of several Assistance League chapters participating in this book drive nationwide with the shared goal of collecting and donating 100,000 books throughout the country.
