Assistance League® of the Eastside members will be delivering flowers and Mother’s Day cards this weekend to women in domestic violence shelters in Redmond as part of the organization’s Starting Over Support Program.

The women and their children are living in confidential emergency housing provided by the Eastside Domestic Violence Program (EDVP).

Assistance League’s Starting Over Support program assists individuals and families fleeing domestic violence by providing baskets of basic household items enabling them to begin new lives in safe violence-free housing.

Assistance League of the Eastside, one of more than 126 chapters of the National Assistance League®, is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that impacts the lives of Eastside families and individuals in need through community-based philanthropic programs including Operation School Bell®, Assault Survivor Kits®, and Starting Over Support. Since its start in 1989, the Eastside chapter has helped over 29,000 people and returned over 2.7 million dollars to the community.

EDVP is the largest provider of domestic violence services and confidential shelter in North and East King County and is a nationally recognized leader in the field. Nationally, one in four women and one in five teenagers will experience domestic violence. There are an estimated 90,750 domestic violence incidents in King County each year.
