Ayron Jones and the Way will kick off the In Real Life Block Parties, a series of free block parties in different locations throughout downtown Redmond, on July 31.

In Real Life celebrates stepping away from technology and enjoying real life experiences with our friends, family, colleagues and neighbors. The block parties are presented by the Redmond Moving Art Center and showcase premier northwest talent in the performing arts including blues, comedy and contemporary music and dance.

“In Real Life will fill the streets of downtown Redmond with music, movement and laughter,” commented Mayor John Marchione. “It’s like a food truck festival for the arts, and a great way to spend a Friday night with friends and family.”

The Blues In Real Life Block Party opens at 7 p.m. on July 31 in Downtown Park with a performance by Lady A. The Lady’s high-energy show has been compared to the likes of Tina Turner and Chaka Khan. Ayron Jones and the Way take the stage at 8:30 p.m. The three-piece blues-rock band reinterprets that iconic Seattle rock sound with the raw energy of punk and the inner-city attitude of hip-hop. Think Stevie Ray Vaughan meets Nirvana.

Each block party is centered on the new Redmond Moving Art Center. This sculpture by day, art center by night, is the latest artwork by Brooklyn-based artist Janet Zweig. Bring your picnic blankets and lawn chairs. In addition to the live family-friendly performances in the Art Center, there will be food trucks and games.
