Yesterday afternoon, at approximately 2:45 p.m., a dangerous burglary suspect was arrested in Redmond through the joint efforts of the Bellevue and Redmond Police Departments.

According to Carla Iafrate, public information officer for Bellevue Police, on Sept. 8th, the City of Bellevue experienced several burglaries in the 4000 block of 120th Ave SE.

The victims of one of the burglaries returned home to find an unidentified man walking out of their house. When the homeowners tried to confront the suspect, the burglar pointed a gun at them and fled in a blue Nissan.

The victims in this case were able to provide Bellevue officers with a clear description of the suspect, the vehicle and the vehicle’s license plate. These Bellevue residents proved that being a good witness is critical to solving a case as the information they provided enabled officers to identify the suspect. The investigation led officers to a home in Redmond.

For several hours, officers from Bellevue and Redmond kept surveillance on the home in Redmond, located in the 17500 block of NE 33rd Street. The suspect exited the home in the afternoon, not knowing that officers were waiting outside. He was arrested without incident.

Immediately after the suspect’s arrest, detectives and SWAT Team members from Bellevue served a search warrant on the home. The search led to the discovery of numerous pieces of stolen property. The suspect later confessed to the Bellevue burglary and will be booked into King County Jail for Burglary 1 and Assault 2.

The suspect’s name has not yet been released because he has not been formally charged, but Iafrate said police records described him as a 24-year-old white male, about 6 feet 2 inches tall and 140 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
