A 9-year-old boy was shot in the head by his 8-year-old brother in Federal Way on Thursday morning, according to Federal Way Police.
Around 8 a.m. May 19, Federal Way officers responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment complex near the 1200 block of South 336th Street, according to Cmdr. Kurt Schwan of Federal Way Police.
The investigation revealed an 8-year-old boy shot his 9-year-old brother while handling a handgun inside the apartment where the family resides, Schwan said. Officers on the scene provided aid as medics and South King Fire and Rescue crews responded.
The 9-year-old boy was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in an unknown condition, Schwan said.
Detectives from Federal Way’s Criminal Investigations Section are assisting with the investigation.
