Christianson’s next competency hearing set for Sept. 7

Tami Annett Christianson, who pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder charges of her 16-month-old son a year ago, was found incompetent to stand trial at a pretrial competency hearing on June 13 at the King County Courthouse in Seattle, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

The court ordered 90 days of competency restoration at Western State Hospital, according to a court order. Her next competency hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Sept. 7 at the courthouse.

According to court documents, King County Sheriff deputies arrested Christianson, 36, at her parents’ home near Redmond on June 4, 2016 for investigation of the murder of her son. She was charged on June 8 and is being held in King County Jail in Seattle on $1 million bail.

During their initial investigation, deputies uncovered evidence that the boy’s mother had possibly caused the fatal injuries. Court documents state that an autopsy revealed that facial petechia consistent with asphixial mechanism was discovered.
