Why are you running for Redmond City Council?

I think I have developed a good connection with many parts of the Redmond electorate and understand the issues facing the city.

What does Redmond mean to you?

Redmond is my home, Redmond is an opportunity, Redmond can be an innovator. I want to see our promise fulfilled.

What are some of the issues in and around the city that you are most concerned about and why?

Transportation is important. We need to improve flow through the city and create alternatives to driving everywhere, including developing neighborhood-based services. I want to see a circulator created in the most efficient manner possible. We need to address our carbon footprint as a government and learn from the habits of our residents and businesses who have been reducing their footprints. We need to streamline our processes to encourage innovative businesses and nonprofit services. Homelessness is a visual problem as well as a social problem. We need to assure safety and civility in our community, but there are real needs that need to be addressed and not by government alone.

What are your goals for this upcoming term on council?

I am hoping to restore our budgeting process to the precepts of “The Price of Government” and reduce our price of government to the lower levels of our neighbors. There are several practical environmental improvements we can make and we need to develop downtown and Overlake with parks and more self-sufficient services.
