City creates Facebook page for its long-range transportation plan

The Redmond Transportation Plan is currently being updated and the City of Redmond wants to hear from citizens as to what they see missing and what they want improved.

The Redmond Transportation Plan is currently being updated and the City of Redmond wants to hear from citizens as to what they see missing and what they want improved.

That is why the city created a Facebook page for the project at www.facebook.com/redmondtmp. Here anyone can join as a fan and get updates on the project’s process while giving input at the same time.

“The page was created to engage and inform the community of the Redmond Transportation Master Plan (TMP) update,” stated Don Cairns, Transportation Services Manager. “It’s a great opportunity for the community to help set the priorities the city should use, and to share their vision in shaping the TMP.”

The Facebook page will enable the city to:

• Reach out to a wider and broader community

• Provide ways for the general public to track the project as set out in the TMP

• Inform the public of policies, guidelines and objectives

The Redmond Transportation Master Plan is a blueprint for Redmond to follow when developing and managing its transportation system. It also provides programs, projects and actions to be taken by the city from now through 2030.

Adopted in 2005, this is the first update of the TMP. This update is based on community priorities and on a realistic assessment of the effectiveness of the various projects and programs contained in the first TMP. This revision includes a strong emphasis on sustainability.
