On Oct. 1, the City of Redmond will launch its new permitting and land management system known as E-Track.

This state-of-the-art online platform is designed to manage and streamline the city’s processes and procedures for land-use planning and project review, permitting, inspections, enforcement cases, citizen requests and other development services. With the focus on streamlining online customer resources, the E-Track system will improve internal and external efficiencies within these regulatory processes.

“As Redmond celebrates its 100 anniversary this year, it seems fitting that the city’s emergence from its early beginnings as logging and railroad center into a globally recognized business community would lead to the use of this type of this technology to engage businesses and citizens,” said Mayor John Marchione. “With the number of both large and small businesses calling Redmond home, the city is continually improving its business-friendly services in an effort to enhance the overall economic vitally of the region. This is particularly important during the current growth spurt with two major urban centers around downtown and Overlake.”

The city will be moving forward with its paperless review process as well. The majority of review will be done electronically. Implementation of the E-Review portal is a critical piece in this endeavor and will provide the ability to submit electronic plans, reports, and other supporting documents associated to active permits as well as electronically communicate with city staff using its new collaboration tool.

“We wanted to centralize our permitting and land management processes into one leading-edge platform and most importantly, a system that could scale and grow as our needs evolve,” said Planning Director Rob Odle. “Our customers will realize true benefits from E-Track as an integrated web portal that will allow permits, inspections and citizen requests to be managed and requested electronically, with anytime, anywhere access. These services can be used conveniently from home or office — saving gas, time, and mileage without the need to visit City Hall.”

City staff will be holding educational training sessions with the development community to highlight the E-Track Portal and the E-Review Portal at 1 p.m. on Sept. 25 in the Council Chambers at 15670 N.E. 85th St. Anyone is welcome to attend.
