The City of Redmond is seeking an artist or artist team to design integrated art and trailside interpretive features for the Redmond Central Connector (RCC) Phase II, a regional trail running through the heart of Redmond.

The deadline to submit portfolios is 5 p.m. on March 19.

The selected artist or team will join the RCC Phase II design team to develop and design integrated artistic touchstones, either real or virtual, that bridge nature and an evolving urban environment through contemporary art and design. The artist budget is up to $25,000.

Building on the successes of the first phase of the RCC, which is currently under construction, the goals for this project include making the trail not just a place with art, but a place that is art. The master plan for the RCC is available at www.redmond.gov/rcc.

“Our downtown is becoming more urban and while the connector will serve as a vital transportation corridor, it will also be a place of contemplation and adventure,” said Redmond Parks and Recreation Director Craig Larsen.

This call is open to individual artists or artist groups residing in the United States.
