Code Rewrite Commission meetings to be televised

The work of the City of Redmond’s new Code Rewrite Commission (CRC) will be televised live and available on demand 24/7 on the city’s Web site at www.redmond.gov.

The primary responsibility of the CRC is to review proposed zoning code updates to ensure they are consistent with the effort’s mission and adopted guiding principles. Commissioners will analyze materials prepared by city staff and consultants and hold public hearings to obtain formal public input.

The commission is scheduled to meet Monday evenings at 6 p.m. and run two to three hours. Most meetings will be held in Redmond City Council Chambers and televised live on RCTV 21 (Comcast) and RCTV 34 (Verizon). Replays on RCTV Arts Channel 75 (Comcast) and 35 (Verizon) will run at 4 p.m. Tuesdays, 1 a.m. Wednesdays and 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

Due to occasional conflicts with the City’s Hearing Examiner, some meetings will be held in the City Council Conference Room and therefore, not be televised.

“Rewriting Redmond’s Community Development Guide remains a top priority for the City,” stated Redmond Mayor John Marchione. ”We are fortunate to have a commission filled with experienced and dedicated professionals to take on such a significant project.”

Commission members are Steve Nolen, Chair; Sue Stewart, Vice Chair; Robert Fitzmaurice; Nancy McCormick (as of January 2010); Robert Pantley and Vibhas Chandorkar and Robert O’Hara, rotating Planning Commission members.
