On Monday, the King County Council approved a plan from the Department of Elections to place 43 addition ballot drop-off boxes throughout the county, including five in neighborhoods throughout District 3, which includes Redmond, to increase access to voting.

The current ballot dropbox at Redmond City Hall will be replaced.

“I’m really glad that we can add ballot dropboxes. Voters have been asking for more of them. The dropboxes are a great way to ensure that someone’s ballot gets in on time and the extra security they offer is reassuring,” said council member Kathy Lambert of District 3. “We had to cut dropbox locations during the economic downturn and it’s great to now be adding them instead. Voting early is the best way to ensure that your ballot doesn’t arrive late.”

In addition to the Redmond dropbox location, other new locations include the Woodinville Library, Issaquah City Hall, Sammamish City Hall and Snoqualmie Library.

With the transition to vote by mail, King County Council members requested a plan from the Department of Elections to increase the return of ballots by voters.

All of these locations will be in place for the November general election.
