Customer trespassed from auto body shop after altercation | Police Blotter for Oct. 17-23

Monday, Oct. 23

Drugs offense: Redmond police took a drugs-offense report at 10:13 p.m. in the 15000 block of Northeast 116th Street. Three suspects were detained after an officer observed them in an illegally parked vehicle in a closed local park. Upon contacting the three suspects, officers discovered they were in possession of illegal drugs and confiscated them. One suspect was arrested after it was determined he also had a valid warrant for his arrest out of Bothell.

Saturday, Oct. 21

Car prowl: Redmond police took a car-prowl report at 11:44 p.m. in the 4800 block of 156th Avenue Northeast. Police responded to a car prowl at a local apartment complex where an unknown suspect had stolen a laptop, a purse and other items out of a vehicle parked in the lot sometime between 10 p.m. and midnight.

Friday, Oct. 20

Theft: Redmond police took a theft report at 1:20 p.m. in the 15900 block of Redmond Way. A woman reported having her purse stolen out of her shopping cart at a local grocery store. Soon after the theft, Bellevue police alerted Redmond police to an arrest they had just made of a woman they suspected had stolen the Redmond victim’s purse. The Bellevue police investigation concluded the suspect had been using the Redmond victim’s stolen credit cards at Bellevue stores.

Thursday, Oct. 19

Alcohol offense: Redmond police took an alcohol-offense report at 4:49 p.m. in the 7800 block of 168th Avenue Northeast. Two males were observed drinking watermelon Four Loko malt liquor at the picnic area of a local park. Officers directed them to pour out their beverages and vacate the park.

Wednesday, Oct. 18

Malicious mischief: Redmond police took a malicious-mischief report at 9:15 a.m. in the 7600 block of 142nd Avenue Northeast. A caller reported a bank of community mailboxes had been pried open. It was unknown at the time what mail might have been stolen and there was no suspect information. Officers recommended directing any neighbors with missing mail to contact the Redmond Police Department.

Tuesday, Oct. 17

Trespassing: Redmond police took a trespassing report at 5:24 p.m. in the 9000 block of Willows Road. Police were called to a local auto body shop after an employee and customer got into an altercation. The employee reported the customer had become irate over the cost of the repair to some scratches on his car and demanded discounts. The employee repeatedly refused and asked the customer to leave after he became verbally abusive. The customer pulled out a phone to record the incident, the employee tried to grab it, and the customer responded by punching him in the ribs. Security footage confirmed this sequence of events. The customer was trespassed from the property and did not receive a discount on his repairs.
