Submitted by the 45th District Democrats
The Washington state presidential precinct caucuses will take place at 10 a.m. this Saturday.
The caucuses are the method by which Washington Democrats will choose their nominee for president, giving Democrats an opportunity to meet with their neighbors to discuss and vote for Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders as their choice for the next president. As part of the precinct caucus, participants will also elect delegates to the next level of the Democratic caucus and convention cycle.
Caucuses will be held in neighborhood locations, with most being hosted at local schools or community centers. Democrats can find or confirm their caucus site by visiting www.DemCaucus.com, where registered voters will also have the opportunity to complete and print a pre-registration form for the event. (Although pre-registration is not required it is highly encouraged, as attendance numbers are expected to be exceptionally high on Saturday.) Those who have not yet registered to vote may do so at their polling location on the day of the caucus, or beforehand by visiting MyVote at www.SOS.WA.Gov/Elections/MyVote/olvr.html.
Anyone who will be 18 years old by Nov. 8, 2016, and who affirms that they identify as a Democrat on caucus day, is eligible to participate in their precinct. For other questions about Washington state caucuses or pre-registration, the state Democratic website is hosting a special caucus web page at: www.WA-Democrats.org.
The 45th Legislative District encompasses parts of Kirkland, Redmond and Sammamish, most of Woodinville, and incorporated Duvall and portions of unincorporated King County.
