Einstein Elementary School held its inaugural Fun Run on June 3 with the 402 student participants raising $13,120 in direct donations from the school with additional funds provided through company matching programs.

It took a committee of 12 parent volunteers to help plan and organize the Fun Run over a six-month period. Overall, people spent 1,000 hours organizing and hosting the event, during which students either ran or walked laps around the school. Local businesses in the Redmond community helped and supported the committee. More than 45 volunteers, including several members of the Redmond High School track and field team, pitched in on run day.

Gold’s Gym kicked off the Fun Run training by bringing its “Born To Move Class” kids fitness class to Einstein during the physical education classes in the beginning of May. Super Jock N’ Jill provided new shoes to six underprivileged children in the Einstein community and the Avondale Garlic Jim’s donated pizza to the class that raised the most money. In total, 146 prizes were donated to the school from various participating businesses in the City of Redmond.
