Election 2013: Unopposed candidates are set to take Redmond City Council seats

King County Elections and the Office of the Secretary of State have released their initial results in tonight's general election.

Redmond City Council candidates Byron Shutz (Position 2), Kim Allen (Position 4) and John Stilin (Position 6) all are running unopposed.

Shutz has 98.85 percent of the vote (3,514), Allen has 98.80 percent of the vote (3,548) and Stilin has 98.82 percent of the vote (3,512). There were 41, 43 and 42 write-in votes, respectively, on the ballots.

On the state initiative front, 517 (which concerns initiative and referendum measures) is currently losing, 61.09 percent to 38.91 percent. There are 446,843 no votes to 284,617 yes votes.

I-522 (which concerns labeling of genetically engineered foods) is also trailing, 53.44 percent to 46.56 percent. There are 403,607 no votes to 351,711 yes votes.
