Evergreen offers dance classes for Parkinson’s patients and caregivers Sept. 25-26

The acclaimed Mark Morris Dance Group will hold two “Dance for Parkinson’s” sessions at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25 and 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26 at Evergreen Hospital Medical Center. The free classes are for people with Parkinson’s disease and their caregivers.

Dancing opens new vistas for Parkinson’s patients, even those who have lost some motor skills. The movements stretch and strengthen muscles and people learn to use their eyes, ears and touch to improve body control. A live accompanist and professional dancers lead the 90 minute program.

Class size is limited and pre-registration is required. Call the Evergreen Healthline at (425) 899-3000 between 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday or register online 24/7 at www.evergreenhealthcare.org/classes.

Parking, as always at Evergreen, is free. Evergreen Hospital Medical Center is located at 12040 NE 128th St. in Kirkland.
