EvergreenHealth’s Prop. 1 appears to be failing, preliminary primary results show

Money would be used for upgrades.

As of Tuesday evening, EvergreenHealth’s Prop. 1 measure for Public Hospital District No. 2 was failing with 57.99 percent of ballots or 24,049 votes, according to King County Elections.

As a bond, the measure needs 60 percent to pass.

If approved, the proposition would allow up to $345 million of general obligation bonds to pay for improvements and the levy of annual excess property taxes to pay the bonds, the county website states.

These bonds for Kirkland’s EvergreenHealth Hospital and Medical Campus would fund seismic improvements and infrastructure upgrades including a critical care unit, updates to the family maternity center, medical office buildings for outpatient care and additional technology.

Ballots were due to King County by 8 p.m. Tuesday. Early election results began at 8:30 p.m. Final results will be certified Aug. 20.
