Fallen Officers Memorial Tournament set for this weekend

The Fourth Annual Fallen Officers Memorial Tournament, which honors those who lost their lives in the line of duty, will be held Saturday and Sunday at Marymoor Park.

The Fourth Annual Fallen Officers Memorial Tournament, which honors those who lost their lives in the line of duty, will be held Saturday and Sunday at Marymoor Park.

Sponsored by The Fallen Officer Memorial Tournament Organization, the fundraiser includes a two-day softball tournament plus a silent auction and dinner to be held in November. The first game starts at 9:30 a.m. both days.

This year’s events will honor Federal Way Police Officer Patrick Maher who was killed August 2nd 2003.

Twenty-two softball teams, including one from the Redmond Police Department, will play in the tournament. The teams are comprised of male and female police officers, fire fighters, and emergency services personnel from around the region.

The Family of Officer Patrick Maher will be escorted to the field by Federal Way Police Department Motor Officers and King County Sheriff’s Office Guardian one.

The tournament will be dedicated to the family of Patrick Maher during ceremonies beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, including remarks by Federal Way Police Department Chief Brian Wilson. The softball games will continue after the ceremony.

The Fallen Officer Memorial Tournament is intended to let the families of those killed in the line of duty know they are not alone and that their loss was not in vain.
