A Festival of Maha Shivratri took place Sunday and Monday at the Brahmakumaris Raja Yoga Meditation Center in Redmond.

Here’s a description of the festival, submitted by Padma Subramanyam:

“Although there are many symbolisms and stories used to describe this festival and God depicted in the form of Shiva, it is actually the celebration of the One Supreme Creator who destroys the darkness of ignorance (night) through His dance of Knowledge (light), that removes the five vices from human beings and creates a beautiful world of peace, purity, love, harmony and happiness. This is the festival of destruction of ignorance and evil, and the creation of new beautiful world of Paradise. The Raja Yoga knowledge removes ignorance that is within us, and meditation heals us making us more peaceful, happy and loving!”
