For 45 minutes, Newman banged a gong to teach the kids about hearing; had two students taste the difference between sugar and salt; for smell, she had one girl clean jello out of a large plastic nose; for touch, she blindfolded two students and had them guess what was in their hands (a toy flower and snake); and for sight, one girl tried to catch a ball with and without goggles covering her eyes.
