After more than six years of service to the Friends of Youth (FOY) board of directors, board chair Phil Crocker retired from the board in June.

In a special recognition at the June 25 board meeting, fellow board members congratulated Crocker for his years of service and leadership. For the past two-and-a-half years, he also has served as chair of the board.

“We are grateful for the commitment, dedication and years of leadership that Phil has contributed to our board,” said FOY CEO Terry Pottmeyer, who presented him with a small token of appreciation. “He has brought humor intelligence and understanding to his board work. Phil was instrumental in helping to shape the current strategic plan and has taken a strong lead in the capital campaign work to support that plan. His vision and support have been critical to accomplishing our mission.”

Crocker is a leader in the education management industry and operates The Crocker Group, which provides education solutions to improve success and achieve strategic goals at public schools.

He completes his board service as the organization opens its new Youth Haven home for youth ages 11-17 who are experiencing a family crisis or are homeless, part of the development of a new Kirkland campus for FOY.

FOY responds to all of these needs, operating the only overnight shelters for homeless young adults on the Eastside, providing therapeutic foster care homes, offering residential services to youth in crisis and providing mental health counseling and substance abuse treatment.

FOY continues its dedication to providing a comprehensive range of therapeutic services for youth, young adults and families on the road to self-sufficiency. With 62 years of experience, national accreditation, 20 sites and programs serving 17 cities, the agency provides safe places to live and emotional support for youth and families in challenging circumstances.
