Head-on accident injures three people

A head-on accident on the Avondale Road near Redmond in unincorporated King County injured three people, including a Woodinville man who is critical condition. The incident occurred Wednesday, March 18 at 9:15 a.m.

A 2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor, driven by a 29-year-old Redmond man, was heading northbound on the Avondale in the 15100 block.

According to King County investigators, the driver tried to pass a second car in a no passing area. The right side mirror on the Mitsubishi clipped the rear end of the car being passed, and the Mitsubishi then collided head-on with a third, southbound car, a 1997 Ford Explorer.

The Explorer was driven by a 34 year-old Woodinville man. His 3 year-old son was in the back seat in car seat.

The driver of the Mitsubishi along with the Woodinville man and his son were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. (No one else was in either car).

According to Sgt. John Urquhart, spokesman for the King County Sheriff’s office, the 3 year-old boy was treated and released. His father, the driver of the Explorer, remains at Harborview in critical condition. The driver of the Mitsubishi is in serious condition.
