Nancy Wilson was the first one on stage to get the Heart music machine rolling.
She strutted in front of the packed Marymoor Park concert lawn on Tuesday night armed with her acoustic guitar and belted out a blues-infused jam that led into “Crazy on You” — and the crowd let out cheers that didn’t subside throughout the band’s two-hour set.
Former Eastsiders Ann and Nancy Wilson marched Heart through a career-spanning set, including “Barracuda,” “Magic Man,” “Alone,” “Heartless” and many others.
Prior to playing “These Dreams,” Nancy told the crowd about her family’s appreciation for Marymoor Park, a place they used to frequent as kids.
“It’s our favorite park. It’s a rare, rare gem of a thing,” she said. “It’s very dreamy.”
Also in the reverie department, Ann sang and played flute on “Dreamboat Annie,” which slowed the set down a bit in a good way before the Wilson sisters and their solid band ripped into “Straight On” and “Little Queen” in succession.
Following the rip-roaring “Barracuda,” the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers closed the show with a six-song encore of Led Zeppelin songs: “No Quarter,” “The Ocean,” “Immigrant Song,” “Kashmir,” “The Rain Song” and the closer “Stairway to Heaven.”
While the Zep set was stellar, it would have been nice to have a couple more Heart songs in the mix like “Dog and Butterfly,” “Even it Up” and “Mistral Wind.”
In the end, whatever songs Heart was playing, the arm-waving, sing-along and dancing crowd of about 4,500 fans were with them every step of the way.
