Human Services Commission seeks youth adviser

The City of Redmond is seeking a youth adviser for its Human Services Commission. The commission deals with a broad spectrum of human service issues in Redmond, including housing, hunger, health care, counseling, domestic violence and family support.

The City of Redmond is seeking a youth adviser for its Human Services Commission. The commission deals with a broad spectrum of human service issues in Redmond, including housing, hunger, health care, counseling, domestic violence and family support.

The commission’s role is to advise the mayor and council on general human services issues and to make specific funding recommendations as part of the city’s budget process every two years. Youth advisers should be high school or college aged, have a strong interest in the issues, a willingness to learn, and the ability to present a youth perspective in all human services decision making. Youth advisers must either live in or attend school in Redmond.

The commission meets from 6:30-8:30 p.m. the second Monday of each month in the Council Conference Room, Redmond City Hall. All board and commission members are volunteers. Applicants must complete a community service application. The positions are open until filled.
