JSH Properties and DRA Advisors purchase Redmond Town Center

JSH Properties, Inc. — which has offices in Bellevue, Seattle, Tukwila and Renton — and operating partner DRA Advisors in New York, are the new owners of the shopping center, which was previously owned and managed by California-based Macerich.

JSH — which, according to its website, was established in 1986 and provides services in property management and leasing, construction management and development, finance, investment sales and tenant representation — now also has an office at RTC as a result of the sale.

President Steve Hansen said talks about purchasing the downtown shopping center began several months ago and the sale closed Thursday around 2 p.m. He said they were interested in buying the property because it is a great piece of real estate and they wanted to be part of downtown Redmond’s birth and growth as it develops into one of the city’s two urban centers.

Hansen said they really like all the multi-family housing development going on downtown and see the upside of the growing density.

“It’s a great market to be in,” he said.

Hansen said RTC currently has about 60,000 square feet of available space and they are in talks with a number of businesses ranging from hard goods, to food, to clothing.

“We’ve got a lot of great (potential) tenants,” he said.

The old Borders store, which closed about two years ago, is the biggest space available in the mall at about 25,000 square feet. Hansen said the space can be leased to one tenant as it previously was or could be split to accommodate multiple tenants. It will depend on who they talk to, he said.

When asked how soon visitors will be seeing these new businesses at RTC, Hansen said it will take some time.

“It takes a little while for that to happen,” he said about leasing spaces.

In addition to RTC, Hansen said JSH also leases Bear Creek Village in the 17000-17200 blocks between Avondale Way and Redmond Way in Redmond.
