On Sept. 19, 1990, Redmond High School graduate Erin MacGregor, then 18, went missing from her Sahalee home.

In 2001, a partial skull was found near milepost 39 on Interstate 90. DNA was taken and last month was positively identified as the remains of MacGregor, according to a Q13 FOX news report yesterday.

According to King County Major Crimes detectives, the Bode Technologies lab out of Lorton, Va. matched DNA taken from MacGregor’s deceased mother’s autopsy to identify the partial skull.

Detectives continue to work the case to find out how she died.

MacGregor is listed in the National Missing Persons Data System and The Charley Project, which profiles more than 9,000 cold case missing people and lists its source information for MacGregor’s case as the King County Sheriff’s Office, Washington State Missing Persons Search, Seattle Post-Intelligencer and Seattle Times.

The Charley Project notes that MacGregor was last seen asleep in her parents’ home on the morning of Sept. 19, 1990, but missed three job interviews that day. Her mother contacted police the next day when she learned that Erin’s boyfriend hadn’t heard from her.

Erin’s blue and silver 1985 Honda CRX was found abandoned at an apartment complex in the Columbia City area of Seattle on Oct. 3, 1990. In April 1991, police found Erin’s key ring, part of her wallet and two of her credit cards near Alcott Elementary School in Redmond.

If anyone has information about MacGregor, they can call the King County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit at (206) 296-3311 or you can make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
