Lake Washington School District announces administrative changes for 2010-11

Spring and summer often bring changes in assignments for school principals and assistant principals in the Lake Washington School District (LWSD). This year with five principals retiring and others going on to new jobs, the roster of administrative shifts for 2010-11 affects elementary schools, junior highs and high schools around the district. Changes involving schools in Redmond include the following:

Spring and summer often bring changes in assignments for school principals and assistant principals in the Lake Washington School District (LWSD). This year with five principals retiring and others going on to new jobs, the roster of administrative shifts for 2010-11 affects elementary schools, junior highs and high schools around the district.

Changes involving schools in Redmond include the following:

• Jack Tobin, the current principal at Einstein Elementary School, will replace Ellen Challenger, who is retiring, as the principal at Dickinson Elementary School, Redmond.

• Melissa Pointer, the current associate principal at Redmond High School, will replace Jack Tobin as the principal at Einstein Elementary School, Redmond.

• Rebekah Belnap from Wasatch High School in Heber City, Utah, replaces Melissa Pointer as associate principal at Redmond High School, Redmond. Rebekah served as the assistant principal at Wasatch High school for four years. In the past, Rebekah also served as an activities coordinator, and she taught English Language Learners and English for five years

• Brady Howden, the current interim assistant principal at Rose Hill Junior High School, Redmond, will replace Tracey Miller, who will take a leave of absence, as principal at McAuliffe Elementary School, Sammamish. Brady completed his administrative internship last year at Franklin Elementary.

• Anne Gregory, from Bellevue School District, replaces Dr. Cindy Lundvall, who is retiring, as assistant principal at Evergreen Junior High School, Redmond. Anne currently works in the as a curriculum designer for Special Education in Bellevue and is completing her administrative internship at Highland Middle School. Anne attended Gonzaga University where she earned a degree in psychology. She went on to earn her teaching certification in Special Education at Seattle University, and to earn her administrative credential through the Danforth program at UW.

• Prato Barone, current principal at Redmond Junior High School, replaces Nell Ballard-Jones as associate principal at Lake Washington High School, Kirkland.

• Kelly Clapp, from Everett Public Schools, replaces Prato Barone as principal at Redmond Junior High School, Redmond. Kelly has been the assistant principal at North Middle School. Kelly also previously served as assistant principal at Everett High School, and has taught both middle school language arts/social studies and high school English/AP English in Everett and Arlington. Kelly is a graduate of Western Washington University.

• Three positions in the LWSD remain to be filled: principal at Smith Elementary, Sammamish; principal at Rosa Parks Elementary, Redmond; and assistant principal at Finn Hill Junior High. Those positions will all be filled soon and announcements made at that time.
