The Washington State Auditor’s Office issued two reports on May 23, concerning Lake Washington School District (LWSD) and for the second year in a row, the district had no findings on either the Accountability Audit Report or the Financial Statements and Federal Single Audit Report.

Both reports covered the district’s last fiscal year, September 1, 2009, through August 31, 2010.The Accountability Report examines areas representing the highest risk of noncompliance, misappropriation or misuse.

During this audit period, areas reviewed included cash receipts, disbursement/expenditures, procurement, open public meetings/records laws, transportation, and bond sales. The report found that the LWSD complied with state laws and regulations and its own policies and procedures in the areas examined.“

I’m very proud of the work our business services staff does to ensure that district resources are used and tracked carefully,” said LWSD superintendent Dr. Chip Kimball. “Their work ensures that our community can trust that taxpayer dollars are used only for their intended purposes.”
