The Lake Washington School District’s fourth annual Elementary Culinary Competition will be at Redmond Junior High at 10055 166th NE, on Feb. 23 from 2-5 p.m.

Twenty finalists in fourth- and fifth-grade have been selected from Peter Kirk, Horace Mann, Carl Sandburg, Lora Wilder, Rosa Parks, Margaret Mead, Christa McAuliffe, John Muir and Samantha Smith Elementary Schools. The goal of the competition is for students to create healthy snack foods and encourage healthy eating.

Students submitted recipes for their favorite after-school snack. A panel of administrators selected the finalists, who were invited to the cook-off competition in February.

Final judging will be based on the following criteria: health-conscious foods, judge’s choice, simple kid-friendly preparation, best table demonstration and fun kid foods.
