LINKS (Looking Into the Needs of Kids and Schools) is seeking volunteers to provide academic and social support to students in the Lake Washington School District (LWSD), which serves the cities of Redmond, Kirkland and Sammamish.
Volunteers are need as academic tutors as well as for the LINKS Lunch Buddy program, which is a way for adults in the community to help local elementary students succeed. For an hour a week, a mentor is a student’s game opponent, confidante and buddy.
All new community volunteers are required to attend a volunteer orientation and complete an LWSD volunteer application. Volunteers must be approved before being placed in a school. Upcoming volunteer orientations are scheduled for Nov. 30 at 6 p.m. and Dec. 6 at 9:30 a.m. To RSVP, contact Nanci Wehr at links@lwsd.org or (425) 936-1410.
