Lake Washington School District’s (LWSD) Food Services will hold its 5th Annual “Kids Can Cook” contest at Redmond Junior High School (RJH), located at 10055 166th Ave. N.E. in Redmond, from 2-5 p.m.

Students submitted healthy recipes to LWSD’s Food Services department in February and a panel of judges selected the winning recipes. The finalists were invited to the cooking contest on April 11.

The students will gather at RJF to prepare their healthy snack recipes to be sampled by judges and guests. Final judging will be based on health-conscious foods, simple and kid-friendly preparation, fun kid foods, judge’s choice and best table presentation.

All participants will receive a t-shirt, apron, chef hat, certificate and medal.

A total of 20 fourth and fifth graders will participate in this year’s event:

  • Four students from Alcott Elementary
  • Three students from Audubon Elementary
  • Two students from Blackwell Elementary
