Man dies after being struck by car in Redmond

An elderly man who was struck by a car on Wednesday night died at the scene.

An elderly man who was struck by a car on Wednesday night died at the scene.

At 5:11 p.m., members of the Redmond police and fire departments responded to the report of the collision located near Northeast 80th Street and 133rd Avenue Northeast in Redmond, according to Redmond Police Department Public Information Officer Becky Range.

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as George Allen, 87.

A preliminary investigation reveals an adult male with no passengers was driving westbound on Northeast 80th and struck the pedestrian on Northeast 80th just west of 133rd.

The driver of the Subaru wagon stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. At this early stage, investigators do not believe the man’s driving was impaired. Range said it wasn’t raining at the time and there was no water on the road.

There was a witness in another vehicle behind the driver who provided information to police at the scene.

The case is under investigation by the Redmond Police Traffic Division.
