Redmond City Council President Hank Margeson has been elected to the 2016 board of directors of the Sound City Association (SCA), which represents 36 cities in King County, and provides a regional voice for nearly one million people. This is council member Margeson’s first term on the 13-member SCA Board.

“We are excited that council member Margeson has been elected to the board and will serve as a representative from the North Caucus,” said SCA Executive Director Deanna Dawson. “His participation will help in our efforts to the build long-term community and economic prosperity for our region and state.”

Dawson noted that Margeson continues Redmond’s representation on the SCA board. Mayor John Marchione is leaving the board and also served as SCA president.

SCA provides a voice for King County cities through leadership in areas such as economic and community development, transportation, land use, health, government operations, the environment, education, public safety, social welfare and other public policy issues.

Margeson has served on Redmond’s City Council since November 2007 and is now serving his second term. He represents the city at the SCA Public Issues Committee. He was also appointed to the Puget Sound Regional Committee’s Growth Management Planning board, serving as the SCA caucus chair and the King County Regional Policy Committee. Prior to election to City Council, he served on the Parks and Trails Commission and was the vice chairperson for the Education Hill Citizens Advisory Committee.

SCA, which was formerly known as the Suburban Cities Association, was established more than 40 years ago to help King County cities act locally and partner regionally to create vital and thriving communities through advocacy, education, leadership, mutual support and networking.
