Memorial for Uusitalo set for Friday at Washington Cathedral

A memorial and reception for Jay R. Uusitalo, the Redmond man who died on March 9 in a plane crash near Woodinville, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at Washington Cathedral at 12300 Woodinville-Redmond Rd. N.E. in Redmond.
According to an obituary on the Cascade Memorial website, Uusitalo was born Dec. 25, 1967 in Napa, Calif. and graduated from Napa High School and the University of California Berkeley.
Uusitalo was the pilot of a Maule from about 1970 when it crashed into a home in unincorporated King County. He died on the scene. The King County Medical Examiner’s Office has listed the cause of death as blunt force to the head, torso and extremities.
There was one passenger in the plane during the crash, Uusitalo’s teenaged nephew, who survived and was rushed to Harborview Medical Center.
Uusitalo is surveyed by his wife Stephanie and two daughters, Ava and Ashley, as well as his mother Cheri Norton, her husband Mike, his two sisters Rebecca Uusitalo and Heather Hubbard, and her husband Jeff. Uusitalo is also survived by six nieces and nephews.
