Mountain bikers will be taking on the muddy terrain on the north Eastside for the Jan. 15 Stinky Weather Poker Run (also known as Stinky Spoke), to raise money for people with disabilities.

All proceeds from the Stinky Spoke, which has become the kick off of the biking year in the area, will go to Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center, an organization whose mission is to improve the bodies, minds and spirits of children and adults with disabilities through equine-assisted therapy.

This is the fourth annual Stinky Spoke event, which will take place on the statistically worst weather day of the year. Riders start and finish at Redhook Brewery in Woodinville. They follow a route along the Sammamish River and Redmond Watershed and Tolt Pipeline trails. A new optional route for 2011 provides an almost all-trail route, including two and a half more miles of trails and one more challenging uphill section. Riders collect playing cards along the way with hopes to have a good enough poker hand at the end to win a prize.

An after party will be held in the Redhook parking lot, with live music, food and beverages.

Little Bit is located in Woodinville and serves 240 children and adults with disabilities weekly with the help of more than 400 dedicated volunteers. For more information, visit www.littlebit.org.
