Nixon, Springer earn outstanding ratings from Municipal League

Toby Nixon and Lawrence Springer, 45th Legislative District candidates, have received the only “Outstanding” rating from The Municipal League of King County for races in the Redmond area.

Toby Nixon and Lawrence Springer, 45th Legislative District candidates, have received the only “Outstanding” rating from The Municipal League of King County for races in the Redmond area.

Nixon is a Republican who is running for Postion 1 against incumbant Roger Goodman, who received a Good rating. Springer, a Democrat, is the incumbant for Position 2. Springer is running against Kevin Hastings, who earned a Good rating.

The League rated more than 85 candidates in 40 contested legislative and judicial races in this year’s election.

The nonpartisan ratings are based on four criteria: knowledge, involvement, effectiveness and character.

The ratings assess each candidate’s potential to be effective in office and ability to serve the community. They don’t consider political affiliations or stands on specific issues. Candidates aren’t rated against each other.
