Officers arrest suspect for assault and animal cruelty | Police Blotter for May 10-16

Tuesday, May 16

Fraud: Redmond police took a fraud report at 2 p.m. in the 7500 block of 166th Avenue Northeast. Officers were called to a business after a customer wished to place items on a wireless account that he was not a part of. The suspect was contacted by police and stated he was new in town and provided a name for the account holder that was not correct, according to the business staff. Attempts to contact the legitimate account holder were not successful. The suspect was identified and agreed to leave the store.

Monday, May 15

Robbery: Redmond police took a robbery report at 2:10 p.m. in the 17200 block of Redmond way. A subject selected electronic items from a store and exited without paying for them. Loss-prevention staff confronted the suspect, who attempted to punch the employee in the face. The suspect fled on foot and officers were unable to find him. Approximately two hours later, officers checked the welfare of an individual found lying in a parking lot. This subject had a unique tear in his jeans that matched video of the shoplift suspect. The individual was identified as the shoplifter and arrested for second-degree robbery. He was booked into the King County Jail.

Sunday, May 14

Burglary: Redmond police took a burglary report at 9:36 a.m. in the 11500 block of 162nd Avenue Northeast. Officers investigated a burglary at a church. An unknown suspect(s) entered the building and vandalized the kitchen and made a mess with several items of food. No suspect information exists at this time.

Saturday, May 13

Shoplifting: Redmond police took a shoplifting report at 7:27 p.m. in the 16400 block of Cleveland Street. Police responded to a business after staff witnessed a patron placing merchandise into a bag and exit the store without paying for it. Officers contacted the suspect, who admitted to stealing the model airplane from the store. He was arrested for misdemeanor theft.

Friday, May 12

Assault: Redmond police took an assault report at 11:07 p.m. in the 17600 block of Redmond Way. Police responded to a hotel after an individual reported being assaulted by a friend, who also allegedly grabbed the victim’s cat in an effort to harm it. The suspect was contacted and arrested for assault and animal cruelty.

Assault: Redmond police took an assault report at 4:59 p.m. in the 8400 block of 161st Avenue Northeast. Witnesses observed a group of young adults and teenagers engaged in a verbal dispute at a park. One of the subjects was seen using pepper spray on two of the others. The suspect hopped on a bus, but was quickly contacted by officers and arrested for assault.

Thursday, May 11

Trespassing: Redmond police took a criminal-trespassing report at 7:59 p.m. on the Powerline Trail. Officers conducted a check of a privately owned wooded area that has been used by people camping in the past. Four individuals were found camping despite visible “No Trespassing” signs on the property. Charges of second-degree criminal trespassing were submitted to the prosecutor’s office.

Wednesday, May 10

Weapons offense: Redmond police took a weapons-offense report at 11:54 p.m. in the 4600 block of 150th Avenue Northeast. A business received a phone call from an unknown out-of-state individual who made threatening statements against the business. Officers responded and researched the call. The suspicious incident was determined to be unfounded.
